About Me

My photo
Thrifty finds, DIY, and a soon to be Home Reno...

Welcome!

I love to find cheaper ways to do expensive things. Whether this be through Thrift-store-shopping or DIY decorating, I find a way to get it done. I NEVER shop in the regular priced area of a store. If I do happen to see something I love that is regular priced, I wait til it goes on sale. OR, i make it my own version of it. I love to paint and do crafts. However, being a mother of two and a night-shift nurse, I have very little time to do it. We are also in a rental home while we search for my forever home. So, I am LOVING the blog world right now as I find ideas for my new home. Be sure to follow me so I will know I'm not just blogging to myself. :-)

I will also give a brief synopses of the past 22 months as well.
Lanie Mae Morton (named after my precious grandmother, Mae Colley), was born on August 22, 2006 at 6 pm. She was almost a week late and the only reason she came when she did, is b/c Dr. Mckenzie induced me. I was a blowfish! Huge, I tell you! Anyway, She was born, and our world was ever changed. She quickly turned into a Daddy's girl. (a chubby daddy's girl, I might add) She was in the 90% for both height and weight for the 1st year of her life. She is still tall, but, is quickly becoming a string bean.
She as been a talker from the beginning. She started w/ MAMA at around 6 months and hasn't stopped since. She now is really into her name. She will correct you if you call her baby or sweetheart. She will say "My name MaeMae, not baby, MaeMae".
She also has been very independent from the beginning. She's not a cuddler. She is not one who likes to be held or picked up a lot. She will say "MY do it!" O.K...maybe she is a little strong-willed. She did NOT get that from me! HMMM, I wonder WHO she did get it from? (NM)
She didn't walk until she was 15 months. This, also, was a sign of her independent personality. You could tell that she had the leg strength and the coordination, she just would not do it. Then, all of a sudden, off she goes (by herself, of course)!
She started going to mother's day out when she was around 17 months. The first day, I was so nervous. She walked in, threw up her hand and said "HEY". I had to get her attention to tell her bye. Again, she showed her independence.
She is now 22 months, and still a Daddy's girl. I work at night and when she sees me put on my scrubs, she says.."you go to work?", and then starts hugging her daddy, saying bye-bye and blowing me kisses.
I feel like I am caught up, kind-of...here are some pictures to help.

I told you I was huge!!

Lanie Mae Morton 8/22/06 6pm 8# 1 oz & 21 inches long

Daddy's girl already!

Lanie Mae's first beach trip (10 weeks old)...it took my friend Kirsten & I 11 hours to get to Destin. DISASTER. LM was nursing like every 1 1/2 hr and her little boy had been on antibiotics and had like 5 terribly poopie diapers.

Starting to get chunky! I think she was like 4 months or so.
