About Me

My photo
Thrifty finds, DIY, and a soon to be Home Reno...

Welcome!

I love to find cheaper ways to do expensive things. Whether this be through Thrift-store-shopping or DIY decorating, I find a way to get it done. I NEVER shop in the regular priced area of a store. If I do happen to see something I love that is regular priced, I wait til it goes on sale. OR, i make it my own version of it. I love to paint and do crafts. However, being a mother of two and a night-shift nurse, I have very little time to do it. We are also in a rental home while we search for my forever home. So, I am LOVING the blog world right now as I find ideas for my new home. Be sure to follow me so I will know I'm not just blogging to myself. :-)

The early bird gets the worm...

I headed to my local thrift store right after dropping my oldest off at school last week. I'm typically a mid-morning thrifter. I should say, I WAS a mid- morning thrifter (until Last week). I went on my normal path through the store. 1st up- furniture. And, my, oh my! Hot off the truck was this beauty! For $59.98! SOLD!

And for the walls....

To add to my "fantasy decor", I may do a Stencil on the wall kind of like of of these Cutting Edge Stencils that Lolly Jane featured :-)  As you will see below, they are doing a giveaway!  Go check it out.
I'm loving the Trellis design.  :-)

Still Dreamin...

Well, still no house.  So, I have moved on to designing my dream living room.  Our current couch is this one...
I found these fabrics on www.fabric.com. and think they would make perfect throw pillows..

Then...I would love to do a cream colored shag rug like this one found at Overstock

And, MAYBE an ottoman kind of like this one from Amazon
Like I said, I just still dreamin...

This is why I heart the Thrift Store

Oh, how I love a bargain!  This week, I have spent a little time thrifting.  (um, that would be every week!).  But, anyway, this week, I want to share some of my finds...

got a pair of these cute lanterns for $4 each (which was actually a splurge, but, I NEEDED them for my back porch)

This is a little cheesy...but, it was only .59.  What can I say?  I can't pass up a cute pillow for less than a buck.

I LOVE this find.  These vintage silouette pictures were only .99 each.  I think they are just precious!

OK...are you ready??  BALLARD DESIGNS monogrammed shower curtain (with an M) for only $2.48. SHUT.UP!!!

Remember the post yesterday about my little girl's future bedroom?  Well, how about a Silk Navy European Sham to put on the center of the bed?  for $1.48?  Yep, I think so!  And, I'll put a hot pink Monogram on the center and it will  be PERFECT!

Two candle sticks for $2.48 each.

I am proud ashamed to say that this is only a portion of what I found.  I found some clothes, etc. as well.  I promise to share those a little later.

Have a great weekend!

In the Meantime...

Well,  to help occupy my need for a "home", I am spending a little time getting my decorating ideas in line before we do actually move.  Lanie Mae's room is in need of a makeover.  And, I have a couple of ideas.  I found a comforter last night that I LOVE by Ralph Lauren.

I think it would be SO precious with HOT PINK accents and a cool rug.  Check Out this hot pink and Navy Room over at Flip Flops & Pearls
I love the idea of a BIG monogram over her bed.  Sort of like this (in hot pink, of course).  I found this one on Amazon
Lastly, I would love for her to have a sweet little chandalier similar to this one at Lamps Plus... I saw a hot pink one at Hobby Lobby last night.

I have another option in mind. I'll share it in my next post.

See ya then,
Kelli

I'm a dreamer...

So, we went at looked at the "shack" and it's not completely off the list. But, apparently, my "dreamer" mentality isn't contagious. Neil only saw "work". I understand. I really do. My imagination tends to run a little wild. And, when coupled by impatience (having a house on the market for almost a year, selling it, only to NOT buy, but sign a 6 month lease with the option to prolong the terribly unsettled feeling do a month to month lease at the end), I get a little jumpy when I see something I like. We did go see another home that is a foreclosure and a SUPER deal. It also would require some work. But, not nearly as much as the "shack". Here are a few pics of the home...

So, praying that Neil and I will eventually get on the same page.  And, until then, my day-dreaming sustains my patience...

A Home Reno? Yes, please!

Well, first blog post in two years and I'm changing gears a bit.  We sold our home back in September and have been in a rental for the past few months.  Our lease is up at the end of March and I am determined not to extend our stay here.  So, we I have been house hunting like crazy.  There are some SUPER steals deals out there!  We would like some elbow room.  Neil is determined to not be in a neighborhood.  Oh yeah, and we want this to be our FOREVER home.  So, LOTS of pressure here to find the perfect house.  As I was driving through one of the areas that we are interested in, I saw a sign that said "House and 9 acres".  Thinking it was for sure a house that was way out of our price range, I hesitantly turned and followed the signs.  The road led me up a beautiful mountain.  On the way up, there were a few houses and my "out of our price range" thoughts continued.  I got to the top and this is what I saw...
Hmm...I drove on up this welcoming driveway and, here is what I found...
You may see an old shack, I see this...
OH MY GOODNESS, my imagination is in OVERDRIVE!!!!

Here is the view off the back...

and here is the front view...

So, I peeked inside and liked what I saw.  Then, I peeked at one of the flyers in the Real Estate Box outside (like how I saved that to last?)  and, it's in our price range! SHUT. THE. FRONT. DOOR.

Neil is out of town.  But, I took my father in law out to see it and he agreed.  POTENTIAL. POTENTIAL. POTENTIAL.

We have an appointment to see it on Sunday.  EEK!!! So excited.  More pics to come.  I haven't stopped imagining the possibilities since Tuesday. :-)

Stay tuned,

Kelli
